As the largest healthcare provider in its primary service area, the Hospital frequently handles work-related injuries and motor vehicle accidents. These cases often come with incomplete information at the time of admission, which can delay billing, complicate meeting timely filing requirements, and even result in patients being held financially responsible when critical details aren’t available in time.
Once the necessary information is obtained, billing to the correct party—whether it’s an employer, workers’ compensation carrier, auto or liability insurer, or a personal injury attorney—can be a complex and lengthy process.
To streamline the insurance claim process and relieve staff of the administrative burden, the Hospital conducted a pilot program in 2019 with RevOne’s Workers’ Compensation and Accident Claims department. The Hospital was impressed by RevOne’s systematic and timely approach to obtaining information and filing claims. As a result, the Hospital partnered with RevOne in 2021 to manage the entire process.
Since partnering with RevOne, the Hospital has seen remarkable improvements in the resolution of workers’ compensation and accident claims. Over the course of three years, RevOne successfully recovered more than $10 million, achieving an 80% collection rate. They leveraged both the Indiana Hospital Lien and the Indiana Workers’ Compensation Board to ensure maximum reimbursement in compliance with state laws.
This recovered revenue—from employers, workers’ compensation, auto/liability insurance carriers, and attorneys—has not only alleviated the administrative burden on Hospital’s staff but has also helped clear outstanding balances for patients. The hospital is now able to reinvest these funds into expanding services and continuing to provide exceptional healthcare to the community.
